In 1954, Black Hills ServiSoft Inc. was founded by Frank Washburn and John Metzger. The building upon which Black Hills ServiSoft Inc, now called Champion Water Systems, resides was owned by Mr. Washburn and is currently owned by his wife. Frank Washburn passed away January 8th, 2014. John Metzger fits into this puzzle as an accountant and co-owner for the store.
In 1970 Paul and Edith Champion bought the business from Mr. Washburn. At that time Paul and Edith changed the name of the business from Black Hills ServiSoft Inc. to Champion Water Systems. Paul and Edith ran the company together for thirty years. Paul conducted the service work and Edith handled all of the administrative aspects. In 2000, Paul was no longer able to continue with the hard labors of the job, leading them to hire Randal Birnbaum. Paul Champion passed away on October 15th, 2014, passing the ownership to Edith. Randy Birnbaum bought the business on January 1, 2016. Now the business is operated by Randy and Amelia Birnbaum.
